Announcing Themelets

Last Updated on by

Themelets I registered the domain themelets.com several months ago (way back in August of last year) in the hopes of one day making a WordPress child theme “portal” of sorts. I started working on it off and on for the past few weeks, and earlier today I finally got it ready.

On the site you can find information on the latest WordPress child theme releases, announcements regarding many popular theme frameworks, along with tutorials and other resources.

Yeah, I know the site is pretty much dominated by Thematic child themes at the moment, but in time maybe we’ll see more variety of child themes spanning across different frameworks.

Don’t worry, I’m not jumping ship from Theme Lab to start posting about new child themes all day. Think of it as a sister blog to complement the content here.

So go on and check out Themelets and let me know what you think in the comments.

Remember the first wp theme contest? The one held over at Alex king’s? ALL thsoe themes are child themes of the classic theme.

Might take some tweaking for today’s version, but I bet some of the designs still hold up.

@Andrea: Ah, you’re right. Can’t believe I forgot about those. Kind of like the Sandbox themes, there are probably way too many to list…so I’ll probably make a page with a link to this. Thanks for the comment.

    Nice ;)

  • Leland

@Keith: Thanks! Just sent you an e-mail, by the way.

Congrats with your new project Leland!

btw, there is another wp framework – Buffet ( http://www.zy.sg/the-buffet-framework/ )

I was going to bring up the fact that you didn’t mention Hybrid in your post above, but I see it’s obvious now that you’re aware of it:)

  • Leland

@Pavel: Yeah, I know there are a few frameworks on this page I missed: http://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Frameworks

Maybe I’m missing a few more?

@Adam: Yep, I sure am lol. I’m actually using the Hybrid theme to power the site, along with the Hybrid News child theme, which is great. I may customize the graphics at stuff later so it doesn’t have the default look.

I noticed you’re using Hybrid on WordPress Modder, how are you liking it?

Great idea! I was actually waiting for someone to do something like that. :D Thanks!

I think WordPress should change (maybe use Sandbox?) or boost their Classic theme a bit. It was a great framework in the beginning, but it’s getting really obsolete and pretty much useless. :-/

    Good idea.
