I think the 404 page could be a separate career. How many credit hours would it take to get a degree in
Communication and Animation? Add a little music (elevator is not an option) and you got job security.

I have yet to find myself on one of your 404 pgs, but I am sure if I do, it will be a great GPS!

@Zipo: Usually on my own 404 pages I do have some basic navigation such as page lists, categories, and recent posts to help people find what they’re looking for. This is important but there definitely is some room for more creativity.

Anything is better than 404 pages which say nothing but “404 – Page Not Found” or something similar, which offers no other useful information.

I think the 404 Error Page could be the deal breaker for any site. I spoke about this on Keith’s site before. Many professional blogs can be a bit intimidating (kind of like this one for me) if you are not in the loop so to speak. This page copuld afford some levity, thus a tension breaker. I also wonder why someone does not do this page with audio attachment. Possibly they do. If I thought of it, I am sure someone a lot smarter did before me!
