Thanks Leland.

I'm looking at your post on taking back-ups, the way you put it, somehow makes it seem less complicated as compared to how it's explained on WP site.

Laters, will keep you posted. Thanks.

@Dustyfog: No problem. Sorry to hear about your hacking issue, sounds like it was a huge pain to clean up.

It's not really that hard to take a backup and I'd highly recommend it in case anything goes wrong with your upgrade.

I wrote about this in the past here: http://www.themelab.com/2008/04/09/the-importance-of-backing-up-your-wordpress-site/

At the very least you need to take a full database backup. Other things like themes, plugins, and uploads wouldn't hurt either.

Hi!

Thanks for clearing up the clutter about what's new in 2.8.

I value the security issues highly, since my WP 2.5 blog was hacked by a Russian site in Nov 2008, and it was hell until I had to clear the 500-odd spam links to adult sites that were appearing on every page (invisible to visitors).

So now I'm at 2.7.1, but how would you recommend the auto upgrade to 2.8 by clicking on the 'upgarde automatically' link in Dashboard?

They say you'd better take a back-up, and it looks like a long and messy process, besides I'm not even sure how to do it :(

Any recommendations, suggestions, please?

Thanks very much.
