BuddyPress 1.0 Just Released!
Andy Peatling, head of the BuddyPress project, just announced that BuddyPress 1.0 has been released. For those of you who don’t know, BuddyPress is a series of plugins and themes for WordPress MU, which extends it to allow social networking features and functionality.
With this release of BuddyPress, that probably means people are going to start making themes for it. I’ve already asked if you all would be interested in bbPress themes in the past (more on that later). Remember, this site is called Theme Lab, not just “WordPress Lab,” and I don’t want to limit myself to just creating WordPress themes for this site in the future.
If any of you are using, or plan to use, BuddyPress, would you be interested in me creating themes for that too? I’ll admit I don’t have much BuddyPress experience at the moment, but I can always learn if there’s enough demand for it. Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Looking for web hosting?
Question: What's the best type of web hosting?
Answer: The kind you don't have to worry about.
And that's precisely why I recommend HostGator. I've been using them myself for years and they've been nothing short of superb.
Fast load times, great support, WordPress-friendly, and good prices. Not much more you can ask for.
New customers can get 25% off of any HostGator web hosting package with the coupon: themelab25percentoff
Note: I am a HostGator affiliate, but that doesn't make my recommendation any less genuine.

Just a tip: it’s the *member* themes people really want to see new ones of. BP has a home theme, for the front page and most other parts, and a member theme – which controls the various profile areas and such. This is *not* like a WP theme at *all*.
While it’s pretty easy to use BP widgets in a regualr WP theme, the member part has been tripping up a lot of people.
@Andrea: Thanks for the tip. I’ll look into the BuddyPress member themes you mention. Like I mentioned in the post, I’m not really that experienced with BuddyPress, so your insights are appreciated.
I like your idea to go further and don’t limit to WordPress themes.
got a buddypress theme for ya… http://www.michaelkuhlmann.com/files/avek9-bp-theme.zip
