WordPress 2.6 Officially Released
It was announced today that WordPress 2.6 has been officially released. Here are a few features in the new version of WordPress:
- Post revisions – Manage older post saves, very useful for multi-author or collaborative blogging
- Google gears – Designed to speed up your WordPress admin panel
- PressThis – Easily blog about something from wherever you are on the web
- Theme previews – Preview a theme before it goes live
- Bulk management of plugins, easily activate and deactivate in bulk
And much more. The below video will illustrate some of these new features included in WordPress 2.6.
I have not tested the themes here with WordPress 2.6 yet, but I don’t expect there will be any issues. If you notice a problem with the themes and 2.6, feel free to let me know.
Have you upgraded to 2.6 yet? How do you like it?

Looking for web hosting?
Question: What's the best type of web hosting?
Answer: The kind you don't have to worry about.
And that's precisely why I recommend HostGator. I've been using them myself for years and they've been nothing short of superb.
Fast load times, great support, WordPress-friendly, and good prices. Not much more you can ask for.
New customers can get 25% off of any HostGator web hosting package with the coupon: themelab25percentoff
Note: I am a HostGator affiliate, but that doesn't make my recommendation any less genuine.

Looks pretty sweet. Nothing i couldnt live without.
Is there any security **** ups in 2.5 that or not in 2.6 ?
I already installed it, and I’m very pleased with this new release. The theme previewer is very usefull to check that your brand new theme will not break anything
@Anto: I don’t believe there are any security updates with this release, although I’m not sure. That’s why I’m not in a big rush to upgrade. None of the features seem that “essential” to me.
@Anthony: There was actually a plugin called Theme Test Drive that did something similar. Also another one called Admin Theme Preview. Now I guess those plugins are obsolete with 2.6.
Thanks for the comments.
