WordPress Weekend Resources – July 4, 2008
First of all, happy 4th of July (to my US readers)! We have a few weekend resources today which I’ve collected over the past week. Here they are:
What Plugin Coders Must Know About WordPress 2.6 – If you’re a WordPress plugin author, then you should probably read this article. With WordPress 2.6 allowing you to change the location of your content directory and config file, there are some important things you may need to know.
WordPress Parent-Child Themes – I have to admit this is something I didn’t realize you could do with WordPress. This tutorial goes over how to use a WordPress child theme to redesign your blog. If you have no clue what a WordPress child theme is (like I did) I suggest you check out this interesting article.
Using Sliding Doors with WordPress Navigation – This post at Hack WordPress goes over how to use sliding doors navigation with your page and category lists, as well as offers a “hack” to make use of the wp_list_pages and wp_list_categories functions with it.
Thanks for reading, and if you know of any other recently published WordPress resources, feel free to let me know in the comments.

Looking for web hosting?
Question: What's the best type of web hosting?
Answer: The kind you don't have to worry about.
And that's precisely why I recommend HostGator. I've been using them myself for years and they've been nothing short of superb.
Fast load times, great support, WordPress-friendly, and good prices. Not much more you can ask for.
New customers can get 25% off of any HostGator web hosting package with the coupon: themelab25percentoff
Note: I am a HostGator affiliate, but that doesn't make my recommendation any less genuine.

I am quite new wordpress. But i have read some people saying your blog is advertised on if u go for the free membership. is it true?
Hi Leland, tahnks for linking my “Using Sliding Doors with WordPress Navigation” post!
