@WordPress Modder: Yes, I completely agree with that. I don't think a lot of more experienced users remember what it was like when they were first starting out with web development, so hopefully these videos help the process for beginning users.

@May Ong: Yep, I'm sure Fantastico is a more efficient and easier to understand method of installing WordPress. Some people prefer to do it the old-fashioned way which is why I made the video. Maybe I'll do one on installing with Fantastico next. Thanks for the comment.

I use a shorter method to teach students in my seminar on how to install a Wordpress platform to a new domain or an existing website, via cPanel Fantastico.

Most of my students would get confused over setting up database, configuration and setting of usernames and passwords, as they are non-internet savy basically.

Your video helps those who already know how to use cPanel and FTP programs like Filezilla.

Great tutorial Leland,

Some of these basic things are overlooked by those more experienced with WP and I KNOW people find these useful as I just had a client send me a desperate support email yesterday because he had purchased a premium theme, uploaded it via FTP, and it didn't show in under his Design-->Themes tab.

The problem was that he had uploaded the actual theme folder and the folder one level up that contained the theme folder and some support documentation.
