Splashtastic – Free WordPress Theme
Today we have a simple, nice-looking WordPress theme. It was originally designed by DemusDesign and (of course) ported into WordPress by myself. This is widget-ready and has a small optional splash page included (details below).
And the details of the bonus splash homepage…
Included in the download is an /optional/ folder which contains 2 files (home.php and splashtastic.css) you need to place in the root template directory – /wp-content/themes/splashtastic/ most likely. Basically, just move the files to the parent directory. You’ll need to hard code the links you want on the homepage, and the text. It will look something like this.
Of course if you want the normal blog layout, this is completely optional. If you don’t move the files, you’ll see the normal blog layout. You can even delete the /optional/ folder and never have to worry about it again.

Looking for web hosting?
Question: What's the best type of web hosting?
Answer: The kind you don't have to worry about.
And that's precisely why I recommend HostGator. I've been using them myself for years and they've been nothing short of superb.
Fast load times, great support, WordPress-friendly, and good prices. Not much more you can ask for.
New customers can get 25% off of any HostGator web hosting package with the coupon: themelab25percentoff
Note: I am a HostGator affiliate, but that doesn't make my recommendation any less genuine.

Am moving a website across from the original splashtastic to your ported version and am using the optional splash page as the home page.
I also need a blog page which I can obviously set under Settings: Reading but what do I do with setting the splash page as the home page and having the rest of the site work as in the demo above? I’ve tried setting a header1.php file using info at top of splash page then calling it on a template defined homepage. I then set the template to use for the Home Page as this adapted one.
However all I get is a blank screen. I assume I can set a header1.php page as well as a header.php, I see no reason why I shouldn’t.
Any help appreciated
Pete
