Today we have a very nice free WordPress theme, designed by Ben Swift and coded into WordPress by myself. It’s a basic theme (hence the name), nothing too fancy and very clean-coded. Check out the live demo here. You can download this theme here. Screenshot is below.

If you like this one…be sure to check back often because we should have some more of Ben’s templates coded into WordPress here in the near future.

Clean, but ill wait for something else
I really want mine sliced from a psd to code grr
Nice theme. Thanks, I am happy to put it to use. Can anyone tell me how to turn off auto caps in the titles? Thanks!
@David: Look in the style.css file and remove the following:
text-transform: capitalize;Very nice theme which I’ve modified for my needs. You can see the result of that modification on my website.
@lsd: Wow, very nice! Thanks for letting me know.
No problem. But I have a small issue now in my dashboard and design tab.

I’ve already sent an e-mail to Ben. Maybe he could gide me thru this mess that i’ve created
Whoa, your style.css file must have become corrupted while you were uploading it. Please copy and paste the contents from the original stylesheet and paste it over the one you have now.
Yeah, thanks, i’ve allready tried this aproach. So now i know i’ve messed up in style.css file. Back to the drawing board
ok, i’ve foung my problem
forgot to put “;” on the img ( border: none ) function
all works fine now. So I guess this is it
Thanks again for a such a plain and yet a beautiful theme.
I found some small problems with the theme (missing tagline in footer for example) and also decided to make a wider version at 960 pixels. See my site at http://www.mayurjobanputra.com or download from http://www.mayurjobanputra.com\wp-content\themes\basic\basic.zip
Hey Mayur, I’ve also found a problem, while trying to install it on Krankenhaustagegeld, a new blog I’ve just started working on.
The problem I have is in the header, where the page list slides to a 2nd line, which is hidden.
I’ve switched back to the classic theme for a while, until I find something else, which is also as clean as this theme.
